As most of us are aware, the U.S.A and Israel have currently started war with Iran. According to Encyclopedia Britannica, this conflict began on February 28, 2026, and the opening salvo killed Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. The attacks left more than a thousand dead and caused enormous damage to the nation. It also, unfortunately, ended in the tragedy of over 160 people dying at an Iranian all-girls primary school. The school was located near a naval base belonging to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Iran denied its involvement and the U.S claims it is investigating whether or not the school was struck by U.S forces.
The US government also seems torn on whether or not they want a regime change in Iran. After the initial strikes, Donald Trump urged Iranians to take over their government, but a day later he said he was open to an ending similar to the US's capture of Nicolás Maduro in Venezuela where its regime remained in charge. Then, on March 5, 2026, he told Axios he wanted to be involved in choosing Khamenei's new successor. Iran has retaliated, so far striking US embassies and military installations in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Iraq, Oman, and Jordan, as well as targeting oil infrastructure in the region which includes vessels in the Strait of Hormuz which is where 20% of the world's oil passes. They have also attacked commercial hubs with the intent to cost neighboring countries that support the US military money.
There is also a global impact too. Flights into and out of the Middle East came to a near stop which has stranded residents, emigrants, and tourists. Shipping lines are trying to avoid the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea, where the ally of Iran called the Houthi movement has previously attacked ships in response to Israel and Hamas's war.
The United States has a sore history of intervention. I was discussing this with someone in a debate-type conversation, and while looking into the US's history when it comes to intervening in other nations, I learned from this MS Now article that what followed the removal of Iraq's Saddam Hussein was actually the rise of extremist groups like ISIS itself. This article doesn't mention another consequence of the US trying to intervene: Vietnam and Agent Orange. According to a Cleveland Clinic 2023 article, the consequences of Agent Orange still exist. At least until 2023, America has caused cancer, birth disorders, and life-threatening health disorders among Vietnam Vets and residents of southern Vietnam itself. The US didn't even finish what it started, it pulled out in 1973. All that lifelong damage, and seemingly for nothing, as the US's goal of "Preventing Communism" failed.
My Opinions
Now that I have laid out all the facts I think are relevant(Leave a comment if I forgot anything, and I will add it to an update post!), I am ready to share my views on this matter.
The US and Israel never should have started this war. At least 60 kids have died for this war, Trump's picks for a potential replacement for Khamenei have supposedly perished to US strikes, Iranians are now stuck in a nation at war with both itself and other countries, AND we might have gotten Russia and India involved by torpedo-ing an Iranian ship docked at India for a seemingly diplomatic event between them and Russia. The US also still has Imperialist tendencies, and neither main political party has done anything to help Iran or its people. Even Democratic Presidents like Joe Biden and Barack Obama have directly contributed to causing the countries problems, as I recently learned from a friend in India who's about 8-10 years older than me and remembers more than I do.
We should protest this war wherever and whenever we can. I am not fortunate enough to be able to travel often, but I'm doing my part with online activism to make up for it. For those of you who CAN organize, please do it! In my search for organizations currently organizing events against this war, I found: ANSWER Coalition, CODEPINK, and the following Social Media hashtags to search for: #HandsOffIran and #NoWarOnIran. If you want to share my blog page to other people who are on board with these messages, or wish to get news from my page, go ahead and share! The more people I can spread awareness to, the better! There will be multiple topics talked about here often, and I want as many people as possible to organize. There's a comments section outside of my blog page, it is intended to act as a way for everyone to organize, chat with like-minded individuals, have conversations or debates, share ideas, etc. Please follow comment rules when commenting anywhere on my site. I want this site to be a positive experience, not a negative argument space.
(For Americans) It's time to vote third party. Neither the Democrats nor the Republicans truly care for us. The Epstein files are a wonderful example. Why has both parties hidden them for so long? Because neither party is fully innocent. Why does it seem like prices only go up and up and up? Because they haven't bothered to help. They do small things here and there to act like they're helping, but they've still allowed things like the overturn of Roe V. Wade among other horrid things. Even if I wanted to join the military here, I can't because I'm trans, and I am forced to use the women's rooms when there's no neutral bathroom anywhere because I appear as a woman due to being unable to afford the transition process just yet(I also suffer from PGAD so I have to wear skirts and dresses. This also adds to my outward "woman" appearance). Remember that Indian friend I mentioned earlier? They said only around 0.11% of the population voted third party in the last Presidential Election. I'm guilty of being outside of that 0.11% because when I voted in 2024, I genuinely thought the Democratic party was better. Maybe they're the "lesser evil" but they still care little about the outside world and us alike. It's time to try the Green Party.
